His key works are the monographs Life and Work of Dominik Tatarka (2009) and Current Questions of Theory and Practice of Journalism in the Internet Era (2015). He has published over eighty scholarly articles and conference papers. Out of them, twenty-five are indexed in Web of Science or Scopus.

Ján Višňovský is a member of editorial board of scientific journal Communication Today and member of international organizations European Association for Viewers Interests (EAVI), International Association for Media Education (IAME) and International Federation of Journalists (IFJ).
