Prof. Slavomir Gálik is professor of ethics at the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava. He obtained his PhD in systematic philosophy from the University of Trnava, Slovakia, in 1999. He has published more than 150 scholarly articles in peer-reviewed journals and edited proceedings. He has authored and (co)edited 6 books.
He has been the principal investigator of two research and development grants; 8 of his doctoral students have successfully defended their theses; currently he is supervising another two doctoral students.
He has had several administrative duties in research and education. He was the head of the Department of Mass Media Communication in 2014 – 2018. Since 2019 he has been Vice-Dean for Science, Research, Quality and International Relations at the Faculty of Mass Media Communication.
Since 2019 he is Principal Investigator in the World of Journalism Study for Slovakia. His current research interests include philosophy and ethics of media, especially research of the influence of digital media on human cognitive abilities, media education, communication ethics and possibilities of collective intelligence.
